Essential Information About Upcoming Mosquito Control Fogging Application

Notice – Mosquito Control Fogging Application

The West Side Mosquito and Vector Control District recently conducted adult mosquito surveillance in the district boundary and confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in mosquito samples that were trapped locally. Due to this finding, a mosquito fogging application is necessary to reduce the adult mosquito population and minimize the risk of virus transmission.

Fogging can only be conducted under weather conditions with calm winds and no rain. Weather permitting, the fogging truck will be in the following area at the specified time: 1AM on 8-20-2025.

Targeted Areas: North East / East of BV Lake & BV Lake Sewer (Map attached)

·         BV Lake Sewer and surrounding parking lots west of the Sewer.

·         Farm land sections south of 119 HWY, east of Enos Ln (Feed Recourses)

·         Palla Farms East of BV Lake, south of Union Road, West of Coles Levee Rd.

This application will take approximately 2 hours to complete.

The fogger is mounted in the back of pickup truck and is identified by a yellow warning light on top of the cab. The fogger is a ULV (Ultra Low Volume) device that produces very fine droplets that are calibrated and sized for contact with mosquitoes. Small droplet size minimizes exposure to larger beneficial insects, animals, and humans.

The EPA registered mosquito control product to be used is BioMist 4x12. This product has been developed and approved for adult mosquito control. When used in accordance with the label this product is not harmful to animals. If you feel uncomfortable you may move your pets indoors to minimize exposure.
