About Us

The West Side Mosquito and Vector Control District was established on February 9, 1931. The District was formed in accordance with the statute of 1915, State of California, Health and Safety Code (section 2200et. seq.).

 

West Side Mosquito is a special district dedicated to the abatement of mosquitoes to promote health, safety, and quality of life. 

 

The District covers approximately 1,492 square miles on the west side of Kern County, and includes the communties of Derby Acres, Dustin Acres, Fellows, Lost Hills, Maricopa, McKittrick, Taft, Tupman, and Valley Acres. 

In addition to residential areas, the District also conducts operations in areas of agriculture, state and county parks, water recharge basins, and the oil fields.
