Mosquito Control
Mosquito control activities are performed and overseen by District technicians who are certified by the California Department of Public Health.
Mosquito control products used by the District are registered and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency.
The District uses an Integrated Pest Management Strategy to guide mosquito control activities. Effective control is most often achieved through a combination of techniques that includes source reduction, water management practices, exclusion, biological control (mosquito fish), and larvicide/adulticide application (as a last resort).
District technicians are trained to emphasize source reduction, water management practices, exclusion, and biological control to reduce the need for mosquito larvicide and adulticide applications.
